The online catalog includes the most recent changes to courses and degree requirements that have been approved by the Faculty Senate, including changes that are not yet effective. Courses showing two entries of the same number indicate that the course information is changing. The most recently approved version is shown first, followed by the older version, in gray, with its last-effective term preceding the course title. Courses shown in gray with only one entry of the course number are being discontinued.

Registration and the Repeat Rule
Priority registration for spring 2010 will be the first time that the repeat rule will be in effect at the time of registration. Consequently, students may contact their advisors to discuss options if they are unable to register for a class because of the rule. For your information, here is how registration will work to implement the academic rule 34:
1. If the student has received a grade of C or better in a course during a prior semester at WSU, the student will NOT be able to register for the course again unless the course is repeatable for additional credit. The student will see the following error message: “Repeat denied – Courses may not be repeated when the prior grade is a C or better (Academic Regulation 34). You may want to consult with your advisor to discuss your options.” Note that repeat processing currently does not count transfer work.
2. If the student has taken the course two times during the fall or spring semesters and gotten a C- or below, the student will NOT be able to register for the course again during the fall or spring unless the course is repeatable for additional credit. The class may be repeated in the summer, however. The student will see this error message: “Repeat denied – Courses may only be repeated one time during the fall and spring semesters (Academic Regulation 34). You may want to consult with your advisor to discuss your options.”
3. If the student has taken a repeatable course in a prior term, the student will not be able to register for it again if it means that the credits will exceed the number of hours that are allowed for the course. The student will see this error message: “Repeat denied – Course credits may not exceed the maximum credit hours allowed for the course (Academic Regulation 34). You may want to consult with your advisor to discuss your options.”
4. If the student has a prior grade of ‘I’, ‘X’, or blank in the course, the student will not be able to register for the course, since the system doesn’t have the information it needs in order to evaluate whether or not the repeat can be allowed. The student will see this error message: “Repeat denied – A prior grade in this course is I, X, or blank. This grade must be resolved in order to determine if you are able to repeat the course. Consult the instructor or the department.”
Important! At this time, transfer work is not part of the process.
